Nominate local charities

We are approaching the end of our two-year cycle, and will be giving across our cheques to West Kent Mind and the womens’ refuge at our AGM in February.  We therefore need to decide which local charities to support over the next two years!

If you have any suggestions, please contact us either via the form below, by email to charities@knockholtcarnival.org.uk, or on our Facebook page.  Please let us know the charity, its registered number, and why you think we should support it.

Our raffle, drawn on Carnival Day, was a big success, and we are pleased to announce our winners. All prizes have been distributed.

£100: ticket 01817
£50: ticket 00631
£25: ticket 00687

If you didn’t win, better luck next time!

We had a few items of lost property handed in during our Carnival, and while we managed to reunite some things there are some outstanding:

  • A child’s bracelet
  • A pair of sunglasses

If these are yours please get in contact with Carole at chair@knockholtcarnival.org.uk and she will try to reunite you!

It’s CARNIVAL DAY!

It’s been a lot of hard work, but the day’s finally here!  Let’s make it a fantastic day for everyone!

Make sure you know where the car parks are.  Don’t get caught out by the road closures.  Bring your costumes.  Sing to the music.  Get ready for fun!

With apologies to Clement Clarke Moore

Twas the night before Carnival, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The costumes were hung by the front door with care,
In hopes that the Parade soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of fairgrounds danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long summer’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the garden, the grass and the tree
Gave the lustre of mid-day to what I could see.
When, what to my wondering eyes should arrive,
But a tractor-driven float passing the end of my drive.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the lane
Classic cars lining up for the parade again.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
I saw balloons floating without any sound.

We sprang to our beds, to our kids gave a kiss,
And asleep we all fell with nothing amiss.
But we heard them exclaim as the bunting pulled tight,
“Happy Carnival to all, and to all a good night!”

Make sure you listen in to Channel Radio this morning to hear out publicity officer, Justine, talking to The Community Show about our fantastic Carnival, parade, and the charities we are doing it all in aid of.  Laura and Russell, the presenters, have given us incredible support in the past, and we’re looking forward to seeing them at the Carnival!
