Treasure Hunt 2014

This took place on Easter Bank Holiday Monday and the route had been researched by Gill Storey and Jean Coughlan who had spent many hours and much petrol (probably including a few pub lunches) driving round the local Kent villages to prepare a very ‘clever plan’ that kept several of us occupied for four hours!

Sadly only seven teams took part which was a great shame after all the planning and out of those seven – two had still to return when we left at 7pm! (Hopefully they just went home for tea.)

As with last year the scoring took place in the Three Horseshoes with a few drinks and burgers and much noise, not that we disagreed with the answers it’s just part of the combative spirit we all felt after wandering around Greatness cemetery; clambering up hills in Lullingstone; searching around Andrews Wood to ending up in Westerham. We visited, in no particular order: Halstead, Shoreham, Lulllingstone, Otford, Kemsing, Eynsford, Farningham, Westerham, Crockenhill, Sevenoaks and Seal.

As a family we never win quizzes – if we aren’t last we’re pleased – but on Monday evening we finally found our niche – we are good at finding things and the King Scott family at last came FIRST! Our score was 74 ¾ and the second team’s score was 74 ½! We are the proud holders of the Annual Treasure Hunt Trophy! It’s enormous but will find a happy home for one year until Easter 2015.
