AGM 2015 Report

Before our AGM on 16 February 2015 the Committee were delighted to present cheques totalling £6,650 to 14 local charities and good causes. A full breakdown of the donations is available here.

As well as the two main charities we fundraised for – The Maypole Project which received £2,000 and our local branch of Age UK which received £1,000 – donations were made to local groups such as Knockholt Evergreens, First Responders and Halstead Scouts as well as to our local schools and Churches.

Many of the charities gave a short speech about their work and expressed their appreciation of the support received from the Knockholt Carnival Charities Committee. The Maypole Project, which supports children with complex medical needs and their families, said of their donation:

This is a tremendous amount of money, which will be used to directly support at least three families for a year. Over this year those families will be able to gain access to:

  • counselling
  • couple counselling
  • siblings groups
  • parent drop-in
  • play therapy
  • create@maypole (arts and crafts)
  • Maypole munchkins (inclusive sports club)

and much more! Thank you from all of our volunteers, families and staff.

These donations would not be possible without the work of our Committee members, volunteers and partners together with all those who support us by attending the events we run throughout the year. We would like to thank all of you for your contributions. Without you, we could not support these charities whose work is so valuable in our local community.

We are also asking our friends and supporters to suggest a theme for Carnival 2016. Submit yours now using the comments form below!
