Welcome to Carnival 2008 which took place on Saturday 5th July 2008. The carnival theme this year was ‘Carnival of Colours’
We are now looking forward to our final events for the 2008 Knockholt Carnival cycle which draws all our fundraising events to a close and when we can announce our grand total for distribution to charity and local good causes. But there are two great events to look forward to before we bring the curtain down! So make a note in your diary for the following: The increasingly popular Knockholt Firework Spectacular is on Saturday 1st November. Ticket prices at the gate are -Adult - £5.00, Child (under 12) - £3.00, Family(2+2) £15.00 BUT cheaper in advance (saving up to £2.00 for a family ticket) from the usual outlets (Knockholt & Halstead village shops) or reserve now by contacting Sandy on 01959 532300 or email info@knockholtcarnival.co.uk. Our grand finale features the unmissable ‘Bill Posters Will Be Band’ Christmas Special in the Village Centre on Saturday December 20th. Once again the ever - devoted Sandy is waiting for the phone to ring and her inbox to fill but warning - this event sells out quickly and nearly half the tickets have already been reserved . As mentioned last month the biennial general meeting that inaugurates Carnival Committee 2010 will be held during February and we really do need new blood to replace the Carnival Committee members who are stepping down and volunteers are always needed. Trust us, it's good fun too and to give Sandy some time to herself this year contact me if you can help to ensure we can stage Knockholt Carnival 2010 by emailing Richard at homevale@globalnet.co.uk and we'll be in touch. We'll know the total funds raised by the end of this year and will distribute the cash in January, so if you represent a local charity or general good cause that would like to apply for a share of our fundraising, write to chairman Tony Slinn at Santon, Pound Lane, Knockholt TN14 7NA or send us an email to info@knockholtcarnival.co.uk with details about your organisation and how it would benefit. The chosen charity for funds raised during Carnival 2008 season is 121 Youth Befriending which helps vulnerable young children in West Kent offload stress, regain lost self-esteem and restore a belief in themselves. 121 offers a befriending and support service to vulnerable young people aged 6 to 16 living in West Kent giving them the opportunity to trust an adult outside the family as well as meet other 121 children for group activities, giving them a chance to socialise and feel part of the community.
